This is such bullshit. On a similar note, I read yesterday that the US wants to be at 20% solar by 2030. Excuse me?!? if everyone went out and spent a couple hundred dollars on solar panels and wind generators we could do a lot better than that in just a couple of years! Why waste government money, land, and resources on huge solar and wind farms, not to mention distrubution and the agencies that go along with it? I don’t know why we have this attitude of large scale stuff. Its like everything has to be done for us.Solar power, right guys? Who’s against it? Not us. People who like gardening tend be a fan of solar power. And yet, outer-space moon ricochet set-ups, not unlike underground garden-parks, seem a little 28 Days Later.
Can we just try out all the above-ground, earth-based ideas first, exhaust them, before getting all freaky?
Engineers at Japanese construction firm Shimizu have dreamed up a plan for harnessing solar energy from the moon. It’s a large-scaled, seemingly inconceivable plan that involves remote-controlled robots building thousands of photovoltaic panels out of moon dirt, assembling the panels into a gigantic lunar girdle belt, and laser-beaming 220 terawatts of annually collected voltage toward Earth.
whaaaaaaaaa?!?
It would be the Japanese…

Better/cheaper idea: a solar-thermal driven generator. Because the sun takes 27 days to complete a rotation and because...

Even if it happens do you honestly believe that electricity would be cheaply available?
It’s been a while since my last physics class. Isn’t wireless electricity horrendously inefficient?
